About API Compass
API Compass (www.apiznz.com) is an independent directory of AI API relay and aggregator services. We gather listings scattered across forums, chat groups and ad pages into one comparative, verifiable list, and keep checking by automated probing whether these services still work.
Three things we do
1. Listing and verification
We currently list 171 services, 80 of which passed verification, with 108 confirmed to expose a /v1/models endpoint. Verification means fetching each service's model list endpoint daily — only services that return a real model list count as "endpoint confirmed". Those that fail, or return a marketing page, are marked as pending review or suspected.
2. Continuous monitoring
We probe reachability and response latency of every listed service daily, accumulating uptime and latency data. That is the most direct basis for judging whether a service is worth relying on long term — anyone can write a score, but you cannot fake uptime.
3. Advertised vs measured, kept apart
This is the main difference between us and most relay directories. Claims like "0.1x rate", "official relay" or "no downgrading" come from the services themselves. We log them, but we always cite the source and never sort them in the same table as measured metrics. That way, for every column you read, you know who said it.

Some listings build on public open-source dataset compilations; we normalise fields, categorise and add our own verification on top. If you maintain such a dataset and would like the citation changed, email us.
Listing & ranking rules
- Listing is free, ranking is not for sale. Basic listings cost nothing; leaderboard order is determined only by measured score, uptime and latency.
- Payment only buys ad space. There are a few "Sponsored" slots at the top of the home and list pages, visually separated from the leaderboard tables and labelled so you can always tell them apart.
- What we do not list. Purely static marketing pages, services with no working product, services repeatedly reported for vanishing or substituting models, and anything clearly involved in illegal activity.
- We delist at any time. If a service stays unreachable for a long period or is confirmed to have vanished, we take it down and keep a record, so the next person does not fall into the same hole.
